For Marcus, it's a new year at a new school, middle school. I gave him a ride to class at 11:00, the 7th and 8th grade kids started at the regular time, then left early to let the new 6th graders have a go in the brand new environment. No count down here, just a meh, and a let me out here. In other words, total excitement when you're 11.

First day of School 2018
Monday was the first day of school for Marcus and Molly this year. Molly's elementary school kicks things off with a bang. School officially opens with a countdown from ten, punctuated with confetti cannons.

A night at Vala's Pumpkin Patch
A few days ago we headed over to Vala's Pumpkin Patch on a Tuesday night. The weather was perfect and so was the fun. We got lost in the corn maze. We ate some candy corn. We took a ride pas the Mad Farmer's Experiment. And new (to us at least) this year was a low ropes course that Marcus and Molly couldn't get enough of. And we couldn't avoid the zombie attack paint ball range. Then to top it off, the giant slide, complete with burlap sacks to speed up our descent.

Spring Time is Soccer Time!
Spring Time is Soccer Time! This spring was Marcus's third and Molly's second. Both really enjoyed every game and practice.
Last year, Molly's soccer experience was more of a practice camp. They didn't really play any games, just learned technique and then played some drills.
This year, Molly was in a no-goalie group, and only practiced for about 15 minutes before the game.
Marcus's teams have always had a mid-week practice and then a game on Saturdays. Hist first year was without a goalie too.
Next year, we're going to have to get the kids cleats. Almost all of the other kids at Marcus's level had them, and an handful at Molly's.
For Kalee and I, it's been really fun to see the kids enjoy themselves in a team activity. Hopefully, they've enjoyed it like we have, and we haven't turned into total soccer-parents.

Fishin' Time
Marcus loves to fish. So when we're at the Richter farm in O'Neill, we have to stop out at the pond. This time no fish were caught. In fact, I think we've only caught a single fish the in all the times we've been.
I don't think that really matters though. It's the chance of catching a fish that is the draw. The pure possibility of putting one on a hook. Maybe there's a bass on the end when he's done, maybe just a some water grass. But it's the possibility, like buying a lottery ticket, or opening an Easter egg.
So, who knows, maybe we'll get one some day. Maybe we'll get one at another pond.

Memorial Day A Deux!
This time with even more whacky.
Memorial Day at the Richter farm is always a good time. This next set of pictures were taken by Kalee. I think she got the best of everyone!
